Worship for Reformation Day!

Worship for Reformation Day!

Welcome to the weekend!

And welcome to some adaptations in this season when almost everything we do is being changed more than we ever imagined!

First…a reminder…There will be NO VIDEO LINK this week, BUT there WILL BE a “recorded live” audio link to the sermon ON OUR WEBSITE hopefully by Sunday evening.
We’re trying to get the best possible audio even if that means no pre-recorded video for the next 3 weeks. Let’s try that & see how things go.
There are more details in the previous update.

So…for worship:

The Sermon will be on our website by Saturday. So you’ll have that as a resource too before Sunday. I never post it too early, even though it is finished. It’s better if you can catch it in person. AND…As always…please gather some folks together for the Bible Study & Discussion either before or after worship.
It is essential that we ground ourselves fully in God’s Word each week, and certainly daily in reading & praying on our own.

The Zoom Bible Study is set…9:30 a.m. Tuesday.

BUT this too could change…

Our dear friend Erwin Grosse died (today) Friday morning, 23rd October, and his funeral may take place right when we are scheduled to Zoom.
I’m happy to hand over the Administration of that Bible Study to someone who isn’t planning on going to the funeral or viewing the livestream. Details will be forthcoming on Monday. We’ll just have to wait & see. If you knew Erwin & Nerida and their family, please find a way to express your condolences & please do remember them in your prayers. Their nephew-in-law, Pastor Robert Borgas, & I will be leading the funeral service together at Bethlehem.

So…I’ve just finished reading the book of Isaiah…I’ll be reading this at the funeral & I love the strength of this promise:
Isaiah 43:13 (read 43:1-2 for starters & then…)
“From eternity to eternity I am God.
No one can snatch anyone out of my hand.
No one can undo what I have done.”

Then turn to Romans 8:38-39
I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Be assured…that’s your promise.

John
