Working toward the weekend!

Working toward the weekend!

Hi everybody!

I’ve got a few quick reminders for us this week…and then a reflection or two…

Reminder # 1 – We are still On-Line & In-Homes for worship this week

Please ring a member of the Steering Team & ask if you can be part of worship with them or if they have some groupings they know are meeting. I don’t have that information this week…so check with the Steering Team please! Or…ring me & jump in with our family. That’d be awesome too.

Reminder # 2 – Zoom in with us for a Bible study & check-in time TOMORROW Friday

Reminder # 3 – please stay in touch with others in the Living Water family.

The church was never meant to be separated & segregated apart from one another for this long. Corporate (all-together) worship is part & parcel of what it means to be church…The in-home option is great for building relationships & strengthening those ties, & facing this immediate need, but that is only a small part of our life together. Pray for a swift end to our being separated from one another.

Now a brief reflection…I’m reading Jeremiah at the moment. He’s called “the weeping prophet” for a good reason. He is called by God to speak to God’s people when defeat & destruction & death are all around and the unfaithfulness of the people rots the nation from top to bottom. “The fish stinks from the head down” is a pretty good picture…the leaders (political & spiritual) have failed God’s people & the ruin is evident & imminent. It’s a sad story & sometimes feels pretty familiar to life in the 21st century.

But what’s also evident is that no matter how bleak human circumstances become, & no matter how poorly led or poorly obeying God’s people are…God always has a vision for their future that is solely his to grant & bring to fullness. God always is faithful to his promise to draw us out of ruin and into his presence where there is life and love and flourishing joy.

I will gather together the remnant of my flock from the countries where I have driven them. I will bring them back to their own sheepfold, and they will be fruitful and increase in number. Then I will appoint responsible shepherds who will care for them, and they will never be afraid again. Not a single one will be lost or missing. I, the Lord, have spoken! Jeremiah 23:3-4

Hang on to that until we are face-to-face again…and please do get with others as you are able…REMEMBER…it’s ok to invite yourself over somewhere for worship…Worship is a party that’s designed to be “crashed!”  😉

God keep you close!

John
