When God comes to town…Peace comes too!

When God comes to town…Peace comes too!

Happy Friday y’all!

      How beautiful on the mountains

are the feet of the messenger who brings good news,

the good news of peace & salvation, the news that the God of Israel reigns!

The watchmen shout & sing with joy,

for before their very eyes they see the Lord returning…

The Lord has demonstrated his holy power before the eyes of all the nations.

All the ends of the earth will see the victory of our God.           — Is 52:7-10

When we read this we often focus on the “feet” of the messenger…and what it means to have “beautiful feet.” There’s all sorts of word studies & Bible studies & sermons on “feet,” and especially “beautiful feet,” and how “messengers who bring good news” have “beautiful feet.” And the moral of the story is always: Go make your feet beautiful by being a messenger who brings the good news!

Most of us never do that.

Not because we think we have ugly feet, or don’t want “beautiful feet,” but because most of us don’t know what to say that would qualify as “good news.”

But here’s some good news…Isaiah tells us what good news to bring. The Good News is that we already have “peace & salvation” because the God of Israel reigns

God the Father will have the last word…He has already decided to be “gracious & merciful, slow to anger & abounding in steadfast love.”

Because the Father, not me or you, has the last word, that last word is a word of freely granted peace & salvation…mercy & restoration…grace & forgiveness.

Nowhere else will you find that sort of peace…assurance…freedom from fear anxiety worry distress…Anywhere else you look you’re going to find some other word, but when the Father “reigns” it’s always peace.

Join us Sunday morning…10a.m. at the Kooringal Girl Guides Hall. When God comes to Town…Peace Comes too!
