- This Sunday, 2nd March, we’ll wrap up our yearly series recasting our vision, “Show His Love” in the context of, “Answering the ‘Why?’” as Living Water turns 12 this year & we recommit ourselves & our future toward those things God has entrusted into our hands for the advancing of his Kingdom here. This week we’ll explore the deep eternal human longing for love & how the church is the river of that living love poured out in Jesus Christ. When Jesus calls time on your life, mine or that of Living Water how do we want to be remembered and how do we “finish well”? ALSO…Giving Beyond Ourselves for Compassion International & you know to expect a fabulous morning tea after worship.
- Living Water Prayer Mornings are on the calendar. 10:00 a.m. is the start time & we keep it tight to an hour. If you haven’t yet been…you can still find a chair around the table & the coffee is always good!

5. We are on the cusp of Lent. Ash Wednesday Worship, March 5th, 7:00 p.m. @ the Guide Hall. Folks often think of Lent as a season to “deny” yourself something…not a bad idea. BUT…in place of whatever you “give up,” spend some time asking Jesus what he wants you to “do” in place of what you’ve “stopped doing.”
6. World Day of Prayer Service – Friday 7th March @ 10:00 a.m. – St Aidan’s Presbyterian Church Coleman Street
In a few weeks’ time I am expecting a visit from one of my longest-known friends…a bestie from High School (yes High School) & his wife & young son. If you want to know what John Guilfoyle “used to be like,” my friend knows…
In the meantime…As I read the Bible again this year, I’m up to Numbers in the Old Testament & Luke in the New…I spotted something:
Numbers 11:23…God’s people are complaining about food & water again…and God’s getting pretty honked off and Moses is having to plead for God’s people and God replies, Then the Lord said to Moses, “Has my arm lost its power? Now you will see whether or not my word comes true!” The literal translation of the Hebrew text is, “Is my arm too short?” I love that…Does God have those little T-rex arms? Of course not! God’s power & his reach are everlasting & all-surpassing. What’s called for is trust even in trying circumstances.
But then I read Luke 11:13, “So if you sinful people know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him.” In Jesus we are reminded that the all-surpassing everlasting power & reach of the Father are for our good…to draw us close to him in blessing & life…restoration & forgiveness.
Let that assurance fuel your week with hope & joy…and be sure to share it with someone as you invite them to the UnEarthed event Thursday night!
Peace
John
