Wednesday update

Good Morning y’all!

And what a beautiful sunny morning it is!!!

Let’s get stuck into some things for which it is well worth praising God…

  1. GBO for Destiny Rescue last Sunday released $1020 into rescuing young people (mostly girls) from slavery & trafficking in the sex-exploitation industry. That is over half the cost of bringing one girl to freedom & a new lease on life. Well done good and faithful servants!
  2. Bible Study Catch-Up – Friday – July 8, 2022 – 1:00 PM – These are great opportunities to ask questions about Sunday’s texts and explore more deeply the implications the gospel has on our lives and how we can best share that good news with the folks we know who are not yet part of the family of Jesus Christ. 1. Claim the DateSunday 25th September – Wagga Lake Run & Ride – This is our yearly opportunity to serve the wider community through our water station on the run-n-ride route. Worship will be after the event over lunch. We haven’t had a chance to do this in a number of years so I’m excited. Be ready to come & help out & then eat lunch together.

My morning Bible reading took me to some pretty exciting places this week:

Don’t be afraid, for I am with you.
Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you.
I will hold you up with my victorious right hand. – Isaiah 41:10

But now, once for all time, he has appeared at the end of the age to remove sin by his own death as a sacrifice. And just as each person is destined to die once and after that comes judgment, so also Christ was offered once for all time as a sacrifice to take away the sins of many people. He will come again, not to deal with our sins, but to bring salvation to all who are eagerly waiting for him. – Hebrews 9:26b-29

There is always a time-spanning nature to Christ’s work for us & God’s work in us. Just note the verbs in Isaiah… I am with you. I am your God. Present tense…right now. I will strengthen…help…uphold. Future tense…when it is needed…whenever the time comes.

And in Hebrews…the work of Christ removing our sins is finished (past tense) but the fullness of our salvation is yet to come (future tense). What an encouragement and comfort to know that God’s salvation spans all time and eternity and he grants it freely in Christ to us.

That’s a gift worth sharing boldly this week.

Be richly blessed and do get out to enjoy the winter sun while it’s shining so brightly.

John
