This land is…

This land is…

Good evening everyone!

Or good morning if you don’t see this until Wednesday.

First…I have been feeling very thankful for our amazing volunteers who make the life of Living Water Fellowship so vibrant. I thank God every week for our worship leaders & musicians & all the folks who work so hard to get Sunday mornings organized. It was great fun playing guitar this week with our youngest musicians. There’s always room for more…so even if you’ve never thought about playing or singing to help lead our worship…start thinking about it & let Liz know you’re available even on a “give it a go” basis.

Second…We’ve got a full next few weeks ahead of us…so let’s see what we have in store.

  1. Zoom Bible Study Catch-up — Friday – 17th March 2023 @ 1:00 p.m.

Join Zoom Meeting  —  https://us02web.zoom.us/j/83586782734  —  Meeting ID: 835 8678 2734

  1. Dr Michael Bird hosted by Wagga Intellect – 7:00 p.m. @ The Fairfax Centre St Martin’s College CSU Campus

I’ve been saying for a few weeks this will be an interesting conversation. I think it will be. You might even hear some things with which you disagree. In fact, count on it because that’s a way to learn; hear from people with a perspective different from yours. I expect the Q & A will get lively.

  1. Sunday is a Morning Tea Sunday! You know what to do…bring food to share & hang around to get to know some of the newer families who are asking God to show them a church to call home.
  2. Picnic – Sunday 26th March immediately following worship. Last year was a roaring good time. You do not want to miss it!

Looking ahead…

Saturday 1st April is our next prayer morning…April’s Giving Beyond Ourselves is Wagga CareVan. So our prayers on Saturday, & a handout/reminder you’ll receive Sunday, will have part of their focus on that very necessary ministry of which we (and a lively crew of Living Water volunteers) are a significant part.

Sunday 2nd April is Palm Sunday…and you know what happens after that…

As you look toward Holy Week & Easter remember that there are extra worship opportunities and extra hands needed for the various roles that go into making that week memorable and special. So…if you’re asked to help out somehow…just plan on saying “Yes.”

I think that’s the week we shift our clocks back an hour…? Be ready for that.

Maundy Thursday is the 6th, Good Friday is the 7th & Easter is Sunday the 9th.

Ok…you can ask, because I sure do…where’d the first 3 months of this year go?

In my devotions this week I finished the book of Numbers & Numbers 35:34 really struck me. It’s a section where God is giving his commands for dealing with murder among his people, and all the approximations of murder…various accidental deaths, unintentional killings and so on. It’s pretty sad to read, but we understand that broken human beings find ways to cause one another harm.

But 35:34 reads: “You must not defile the land where you live, for I live there myself. I am the Lord, who lives among the people of Israel.”

We hear a lot about the “land” these days. We respect and honour those to whom God entrusted its care over the ages. We thank God for those who came & cared for the places they lived & cultivated the soil & built cities & developed communities and eventually grew a nation among nations. But wherever God’s people reside we are also to remember that we’re not here by ourselves for ourselves. God calls his home the very place we call ours. The land beneath our feet is not mystical or magical; it’s God’s. We are not to foul our own nest because that harms us, cripples future generations & despoils the holiness of God’s Name. Every place our feet can go on the land is a place God redeems in Christ from the curse of sin. Every square centimetre of creation is claimed by God & entrusted to us to care for & treat as holy because God dwells among us here.

Enjoy the places you travel this week around the land…whether you go a long way or just across the street. God’s there too!

His peace be with you!

John
