“Remember you are dust…”

“Remember you are dust…”

Lent has begun. Lent is when we intentionally say with Psalm 139:23-24

Search me, O God, and know my heart;

test me and know my anxious thoughts.

And see if there is in me the worship of false gods,

and lead me in the way everlasting.

That’s a tough prayer…but necessary if our hearts are going to be finally attuned to that of the Father and if the image of Christ in us is made more complete & real.

Thank you to everyone who had a hand in making tonight such a significant worship opportunity.

Now…a quick “Don’t forget!” or 2…or 3

  1. Sunday – 6th March – Giving Beyond Ourselves for Compassion

We’re continuing our support for Nguna (and by extension his family) This is one of the most amazing things we do in the course of our life together…take time each month to give to the work of Christ in our world apart from our own ministry. Over the year’s you have been so incredibly generous…I know that’s going to be repeated this month!

2a.   Sunday – 13th March – Stephen Gilmour (a local Compassion Communicator) will be with us to share some Compassion stories & how our gifts have a multiplying impact around the world. So we’re looking deeply at how this particular mission partner is serving on our behalf where we can’t always be. Don’t miss either of the next TWO Sundays or you’ll really miss out.

  1. Morning Tea! This Sunday! What else is there to say?

  1. Also this Sunday…I’m telling you there will be some announcements & opportunities…and a special guest for our young saints. Now you know you want to be there and sit close to the front!

Last one…How are you doing with those promises I gave you Sunday? One-a-day? It’s a pretty quick way to begin your day or to transition from one activity in your life to the next. I think you could work through one while you’re waiting for the kettle to boil or your tea to brew…or your coffee to get cool enough to drink without burning your tongue…One-a-day.

The worship/teaching theme through Lent is RSVP: Responding to God’s Invitation

Lent is an invitation to allow our hearts to be changed & our lives shaped as we are given power & authority to invite others to join us on the way of Jesus.

The invitation is open… How are you responding to God’s invitation?

Enjoy your amazing blessings!

John
