Midweek Mash-up!

Midweek Mash-up!

Happy Wednesday y’all!

Some observations as I’ve gone through the week…I bet I’m not alone in praying for some resolution on these issues…

  1. Rain…I dumped 30 mm of rain out of my gauge this morning. I don’t keep a running tally…but that’s just the last 2 days! On top of how many other 30+mm measurements in the last month? While we’ve enjoyed a few quiet periods over the last week…I’ve even mowed my lawn!…and that has kept the Murrumbidgee at less than disastrous levels, but I know there are places where we’ve had too much already & the “more” that the BoM says is due between now and Christmas will cause as much harm as good. So…while we’re praying for lots of other things, I’m asking God for a short respite from the wet weather.
  2. Inflation…I don’t usually bring up current events in this space, but doing the shopping this week & filling the petrol tank in the Honda brought home again what we all know…everything costs more. I’m not an expert, so I don’t know if last night’s Federal Budget will help or hurt, I just know that our family budgets & the Living Water Budget that we approved on Sunday will all prove challenging in the coming year. Janelle noted the mammoth generosity you have demonstrated over the past year and how that is going directly toward the mission God has entrusted to us. At the same time, we know all our regular costs are climbing as a congregation. I’m asking God for some relief for those hardest hit by rising prices & difficult financial circumstances…and I’m thanking him for your faithfully shared gifts that will grow again this year to meet our congregational challenges. If you run into difficult circumstances, please talk to me and let’s see what can be done to lift those burdens & if you’ve got a tug on your heart to make a special gift, please talk to me or a Steering Team member so we can discern how that will be most faithfully put to good use.
  3. Worship…HUGE Thanks to everyone who has had a chance to chat with Ziggy the Possum over the past month or so. I deeply appreciate the work Philippa has done ensuring a family-friendly component to worship & those who have taken part in our readers’ theatres & up-front roles in making that a great part of how we experience the good news of Jesus. Please pray too for our musicians. There are only three regular servants who lead us so capably in that regard and they’re giving greatly of their time and energy. I’m praying we also see other people able to step in soon, and I am grateful we have videos when we aren’t able to have live music.
  4. Speaking of worship…Next Sunday is Reformation Sunday so wear something RED I’m thinking Hawaiian Shirt…it’s almost Summer so why not?!?
  5. Don’t forget…

Zoom Bible Study Catch-Up — Friday – 28th October 2022 @ 1:00 PM

Join Zoom Meeting  —  https://us02web.zoom.us/j/88022194499  — Meeting ID: 880 2219 4499

We’ll be looking at last Sunday’s texts from Acts 17:16-34 & Luke 9:28-35

Every now & then something in my Bible reading just connects with my heart.

Today I read an Old Testament promise & then what felt to me like the New Testament fulfilment.

It was awesome…reflecting on what we are given in the risen Jesus Christ…how that alone makes the promise complete.

Blessed are those who trust in the Lord and have made the Lord their hope and confidence. They are like trees planted along a riverbank, with roots that reach deep into the water. Such trees are not bothered by the heat or worried by long months of drought. Their leaves stay green, and they never stop producing fruit. — Jeremiah 17:7-8

Therefore we never give up. Though our bodies are dying, our spirits are being renewed day by day. For our present troubles are light & momentary, but they are producing for us an absolutely incomparable weight of glory. – 2 Corinthians 4:16-17

Hold to both promise & fulfillment this week!

See you Sunday (& in the Zoom-Room Friday)

John
