23 Jun Happy Thanksgiving!
23 June 2026
No…I haven’t re-used an old “Fresh Water” from November for this week…but after our HUGE full weekend…AND our 13th Birthday, all I can think of is how thankful I am for each & every one of you; for the enormous faith you live out each day, the incredible love & service you offer to the work of Christ here in Wagga, and the immense hope we share in Christ for our lives now & to come.
Special THANK YOU! to everyone who overwhelmed our CrossLink guests with your generous hospitality & wonderful food! Our Ladies’ Fellowship really outshone the sun from start to finish on Saturday & everyone who enjoyed part of the wider fellowship with our co-workers in Christ made lasting relationships across this part of our state. Thank you!
Sunday morning, before worship, I was reading 1 Thessalonians. As I read the opening chapters I was struck by how they matched my feelings that morning: “We always thank God for all of you & pray for you constantly. As we pray to our God & Father about you, we think of your faithful work, your loving deeds, & the enduring hope you have because of our Lord Jesus Christ…After all, what gives us hope & joy, & what will be our proud reward & crown as we stand before our Lord Jesus when he returns? It is you! Yes, you are our pride & joy.” – 1 Thess 1:2-3 & 2:19-20
It was as if Paul had taken the pen from me & was writing from me to you. So…Happy Thanksgiving is exactly how I am going about my various tasks this week…even moreso than usual.
As we move toward the end of June a few things are on tap…
- Saturday 27th June – Equip 2026 with our friends @ Wagga Baptist –doors open around 9:00 a.m. Bring your $30 (I think) and your Bible with something to perhaps take notes on & you’re set! If you’ve got any questions ring Leonie. But please remember…all monies are being handled through WWBC.
- Sunday June 28th – we kick-off a new worship & teaching theme: The Sign – We all want a sign. A sign that God is real. A sign that he sees us. A sign that he cares. A sign that hope is possible. When people demanded “proof,” Jesus pointed to an unexpected place: Jonah. A reluctant prophet. A pagan city. Three days in the depths. A message nobody expected. But Jonah was only the beginning. His three days in darkness pointed to Christ’s three days in the tomb. His mission to a city far from God revealed God’s heart for people everywhere. And his story became a sign of the greatest truth of all: through the cross and resurrection of Jesus, God is making all things new.
The sign of Jonah reveals a God whose mercy reaches further than we imagine, whose love extends to people we might overlook, & whose call sends us well beyond our comfort zones. Join us as we discover how the sign Jesus gave still changes lives today AND what it means to follow him wherever he leads.
- Time for the next serving roster! Pam has put out the call for our next three months of helpers on Sunday morning. Every little bit helps. Have a go. We’re not looking for experts, just folks who’d like a chance to serve & learn in the serving. Even mistakes can be fun.
- Sunday July 5th – is a Morning Tea Sunday! We know what that means!
- Thursday July 9th – Ladies Fellowship – We’ll be looking at Romans 8:1-17. I think we’re at Mary’s house. We’ll firm that up by Sunday.
Looking forward to seeing you all in worship again this week!
John
