Happy Father’s Day!

Happy Father’s Day!

Happy Father’s Day y’all!

I trust you are all enjoying some time this weekend being thankful for the fathers among us…and the Father who has made us his own.
I’m always reminded of the other men who help shape the lives & the world around me beyond their own families…they “father” beyond their own bloodlines and that’s an amazing gift to be able to do that well and faithfully. So be sure to thank them & to thank God for them.

Our worship continues to be available On-line & in the Guide Hall (while our numbers are limited, there’s room for you)
The Steering Team continues to gather the best evidence & advice on how we approach the future.

My sense is, it’s time for the church to start leading on this and just re-gather. There is growing evidence that the never-ending, and at times inconsistent, restrictions are not helping our nation or our communities recover from the panic or the pandemic. There are prevention and treatment options available and we are not in a hotspot or vulnerable to a hotspot. You’re as safe in worship as you are at the shops…safer most likely.

I know I said this last week…“church” as called into being by Jesus and sent into the world by the Spirit as evidenced in the New Testament, IS a gathered people NOT a “click in/click out” experience from our lounge rooms. Faith in Jesus most often does not allow us to live in a maintained posture of comfort, convenience or fear, and the “on-line expressions” of church, while helpful early on, appear to have become too easy & don’t cause us to address the fear element of our current circumstances with the assurance of the cross and empty tomb.

Our political leaders have found that locking the country down was easier than finding a way to open it up again…And SARS-CoV2 isn’t going anywhere. It’s part of our landscape now. Our work from here forward is how to live faithfully knowing there’s something else dangerous in our world. But we’ve always known the world was a place where danger is part of every day in some form; and none of us gets out of this alive. Lots to consider…
