DON’T FORGET THE TIME CHANGE THIS WEEK!

DON’T FORGET THE TIME CHANGE THIS WEEK!

How’s that for a LOUD REMINDER!?

Whatever else you do this week REMEMBER LIVING WATER MEETS @ 12:00 Sunday for lunch instead of at our regular time. It’s the annual Intersport Lake-to-Lake Run-n-Ride this weekend & we can’t get to the Hall until the race is almost over. So…of all things this week…

  1. Sunday 28th September is the annual Lake-to-Lake Run-n-Ride. No Water Station this year, BUT WE WILL HAVE LUNCH TOGETHER @ 12:00 midday in the Guide Hall & have our usual guided Bible Study around the texts for the day. Bring some food to share & we’ll have a great day together. Might be fun to bring a friend…not your typical church thing…a visitor might enjoy a good feed as well as some discussion around God’s Word.
  2. Worship returns to its regular time 10:00 a.m. on 5th October…Morning Tea AND Giving Beyond Ourselves for the Conservatorium “Tamaris Pfeiffer-Tait Bursary Fund”
  3. Zoom Bible Study Catch-up – you know how this goes…last Sunday’s texts Ecclesiastes 12 & 1 Peter 2…click that link… (This is the last of these for a bit…so don’t miss it!)
    Friday 26th September 2025  @ 1:00 p.m.
    Join Zoom Meeting  —  https://us02web.zoom.us/j/89674789066  —  Meeting ID: 896 7478 9066
  4. Ladies Fellowship – 23rd October – I think it’s at the Haggar’s home…but check with Mary before you set your GPS. 😉
  5. Don’t forget! 26th October @ 2:00 p.m. at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church on Athol Street we’re celebrating 100 years of Lutheran worship in the Riverina. We’ll have our own pages in the commemorative magazine being produced for the day & we’ll get a specific invitation for the special afternoon worship as we get closer to the day. Mark this one in your calendar; it’s sure to be a great event! I’m meeting with Pastor David from BLC tomorrow to check the final details…

I’m in the Gospel of Luke at the moment in my daily Bible reading. Yesterday…Luke 15… verse 7 caught my eye…“In the same way there is more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine others who are righteous & need no repentance.”

I don’t know where you see yourself in that sentence; with the 1 or the 99…? But I see me alongside the 1. Luther noted that the whole of the Christian life was continual repentance; of constantly redirecting our hearts toward Christ, of daily taking stock not so much of misdeeds & mistakes (what we too often mistake for ‘sin’) but of reminding myself that I am not the centre of the universe, nor am I the central determiner of what counts for success in my own life. I don’t get to be “master” of anything…that role belongs to Jesus. Even in my own home I am to serve those closest to me in the way of Christ. I’m not the fixer of all ills & neither are you. I’m with the 1 sheep who needs to be brought back to the fold regularly on the shoulders of Christ & in the hands of my fellow ‘sheep’ where together we repent & reorient ourselves around who Christ says we are & what Christ says is for our good.

Here’s the deal…if you know someone who’s been away from the flock for a while…go find ‘em, lift them to Christ in prayer & see if they’ll follow you back to the fold. It’s just better with the 100 all together than for us to be scatter to who knows where.

In that light…I saw this in one of my readings… “We are not called just to be people who follow Jesus. We’re called to be people who turn around and teach others how to do that. We’re all called to make disciples—no excuses and no exceptions.” – Dave Stovall

Be blessed this week…AND DON’T FORGET THE SHIFT IN TIME FOR THIS WEEK!

John
