What a joy in the midst of all that wind and seemingly unrelenting late summer heat to have a good 20mm of rain last night!

God is good at just the right time. And what an almost chilly start to today!

 

Speaking of God’s goodness…Holy Week is upon us.

Palm Sunday is this week. So by now you should be inviting friends, family, neighbours & acquaintances to worship & experience “The Truth” of who Jesus is & what he offers to each of us in his life, death, resurrection, & reign.  Grab a handful of postcards & scatter them wherever you are this week.

Palm Sunday – 24^th March – 10:00 a.m.

Maundy Thursday – 28^th March – 7:00 p.m.

Good Friday – 29^th March – 9:00 a.m.

Easter Sunday – 31^st March – 10:00 a.m.

As the Steering Team met last night I was struck by how long our Pastoral Care list has become of late…just how many needs of a personal nature have arisen over this year. It’s a great time to remember that the best care we can receive is from a fellow believer who remembers us before God in prayer & then makes those prayers real by living God’s compassion into our lives. Do keep checking in with one another…it’s the true joy of Christian fellowship. There’s nothing glitzy or glamorous in a phone call or a visit or a meal, but it makes a difference.

I was reminded again of an old piece of good news…from the Old Testament in fact. Moses, in his final sermon to the Israelites before he dies & Joshua leads them into the land God has promised, bless each of the tribes & all the people. Near the end of his blessing he says, “The eternal God is your refuge, and beneath you are his everlasting arms.” – Deuteronomy 33:27

Wherever you are this week, in the midst of whatever is going on in your life, that hasn’t changed. It is still true…and always will be.

That’s where we’re headed too as we move through Holy Week & into Easter…eternal refuge & everlasting arms.
