28 Oct 100 years & 10,000 Reasons
28 October 2025
What were you doing 100 years ago? Well…the obvious answer is that none of us were around that long ago (although some are pretty close), but our Lutheran ancestors were planting churches & building a foundation of worship & teaching that set the stage for our lives in Christ today. The commemorative service over at the Athol Street congregation Sunday was a good reminder that what we do now echoes into the future. Think about that…Living Water isn’t here just to serve a particular band of disciples with all our favourite things…but stands on the faithful shoulders of generations of saints in order to hand over faith in Christ to another new generation.
I can’t stress this enough: Our role in this ever-flowing river of life in Christ is to spend every bit of our energy to ensure that folks who are not yet part of the family of God following Jesus have opportunities to experience Christ’s love, surrender to his sacrifice for them & live in fellowship with Christ being conformed to him daily. Which leads us to…Starting Sunday, 2nd November, we’ll begin spending the whole month giving God thanks…a month of thanksgiving to God…for his work in & among us over the course of our lives…yes over the last dozen years as Living Water, but with both our eyes looking ahead to how those 12 years, & all the ones that came before, can open the door to another opportunity to share Christ’s life & love with someone who isn’t yet part of this family of disciples. These is a crucial season for us…you don’t want to miss a single week.
In the meantime, between now & Sunday…
